How to bake yummy Eggless Orange cake

This Orange cake is made from fresh orange juice fluffy, rich and  full of fresh flavour. With no added artificial flavour, this cake tastes amazing. The juice and zest of orange does all the wonder because both has  strong taste and aroma. The zest of orange not only enhances the flavour of this Eggless Orange cake but also gives a nice natural orange color to the cake.

Eggless cakes are super easy and can be made with different flavours. The most important thing is to use the accurate measurement of the ingredients. A simple addition of natural or artificial flavours or essence makes the cake flavourful.

Eggs add moisture to the cake making it fluffier. It also gives structure and tenderness to the cake. So you must have observed the cakes containing eggs has a uniform rise and doesn’t break or crumble easily.

In eggless cake, egg is often substituted with banana, vinegar, curd and even buttermilk. All these ingredients add moisture to the cake making it soft and fluffy. While the other important ingredients like baking powder and baking soda helps in raising the cake.

Many a times during the baking process, cake rises nicely but goes down during the cooling process. This happens mainly because of incorrect measurements of the ingredients, too much beating or mixing of the batter after adding the flour containing baking powder & baking soda. So keeping this small things in mind one can easily bake an eggless cake. So here we start with our Recipe of Orange cake.

Ingredients for orange cake:

  • Refined flour/maida – 2 cups
  • Powdered sugar – 1 cup
  • Milk powder – 1 cup
  • Baking powder – 1 ½ tsp
  • Baking soda – ½ tsp
  • Milk – 1 to 2 cups
  • Orange zest – 2 oranges
  • Orange juice – ½ cup
  • Unsalted butter – 75 gm

Method:

  • Preheat the oven at 200° C for 10 minutes.
  • Grease the tin with butter or line with parchment paper
  • Beat the butter in a bowl till it becomes soft, for 5 minutes.
  • Add powdered sugar to the butter and beat it till light and glossy.

 

  • In another bowl mix all the dry ingredients i.e. refined flour, milk powder, baking powder and baking soda. Then sift the dry flour mixture once or twice.

 

  • Add this flour mixture to the butter & sugar mixture in portions and mix in folds.
  • Then add orange juice and orange zest.

  • Add milk as required. The batter should be of pouring consistency.
  • Pour the batter into the greased tin.

  • Bake at 170° C for 35 to 40 minutes.
  • Let the cake cool in the tin for 10 to 15 minutes.
  • Remove the cake from the tin and place it on a wire rack.
  • Let it cool completely.
